Terms of Reference (ToR) 

 

1. Background 

Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA) seeks to support sustainable, community-led nature-based enterprises in Conservancies. This consultancy will focus exclusively on developing an investor-ready business plan for a beekeeping enterprise in Kiborit Conservancy, aligning with local economic and conservation goals. 

 

2. Objective of the Assignment 

To develop a comprehensive, investor-ready business plan for a beekeeping enterprise in Kiborit Conservancy. The plan will provide actionable guidance for implementation, scaling, and attracting investment while ensuring ecological sustainability and community benefits. 

 

3. Scope of Work 

The consultant shall undertake the following key tasks: 

3.1. Inception and Planning 

o Conduct inception meetings with KWCA and Kiborit Conservancy representatives. 

o Review existing data on beekeeping potential, market trends, and conservancy resources. 

3.2. Enterprise Viability Assessment 

o Conduct inception meetings with KWCA and Kiborit Conservancy representatives. 

o Review existing data on beekeeping potential, market trends, and conservancy resources. 

3.3. Business Plan Development 

o Prepare a detailed business plan for Kiborit, to include but not limited to: 

  •    Market and resource analysis 
  •   Business model and governance structure 
  •  Financial projections and sustainability outlook 
  •  Risk analysis and mitigation strategies 
  •  Implementation and investment roadmap 

3.4. Validation and Reporting 

o Conduct inception meetings with KWCA and Kiborit Conservancy representatives. 

o Review existing data on beekeeping potential, market trends, and conservancy resources. 

 

4. Expected Deliverables 

o One investor-ready beekeeping business plan for Kiborit Conservancy. 

 

5. Duration and Timeline 

The assignment will be conducted over an 18 days period, following contract signing and confirmation of funding.
