Conduct an ICT Audit & Review and Update our ICT Policy
Background
The Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA) is a national landowner led membership organization, established in 2013 to serve the collective interests of community and private conservancies in Kenya.
KWCA’s mandate is to catalyze growth of conservancies, by advocating for enabling policies and incentives, equip members with information and tools that build their capacity, convene platforms for peer-to peer learning, and serves as a national hub of conservancies data and information
KWCA’s Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) activities are currently guided by the ICT Policy 2020. This policy was established to protect KWCA’s ICT assets and investments, safeguard the information contained within the KWCA’s systems, reduce and mitigate operational, reputation and legal risks, ensure the systems’ integrity, confidentiality and availability
With the changes in the ICT environment and institutional growth, there is a need to determine that our ICT systems are sufficient and fit for need.
Objective of the assignment
As an ongoing effort by KWCA to improve controls, ensure efficient use of IT systems and align the ICT policy with organizational strategies, KWCA seeks to engage a qualified IT Firm or Consortium to conduct an independent review of its IT infrastructure, user systems, user’s capacity and work environment, report any significant issues and/or key findings, and make practical recommendations to address deficiencies, mitigate risk and improve efficiencies.
Scope of Work
- Carry out a high-level technology, information systems and software review to assess fitness for purpose, areas of improvement and linkages.
- Carry out a review of existing procedures, problems and identify gaps and capacity weaknesses as well as advise KWCA on how to address them.
- Provide recommendations on ICT equipment backup requirements
- Draw up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems with limited resources.
- Review the configuration of router & firewall to ensure security of the internal networks & comparison with ICT standards.
- Advise on the extent and number Internet service providers required, to continually support the organization, in the event of limited connections.
- Review the existing ICT policy and update as per the recommendations and findings
Deliverables
- An inception report detailing the methodology/ approaches and timelines associated with this consultancy.
- One-day workshop to present findings, explain recommendations and discuss strategies to address the concerns
- ICT status review report
- Updated ICT policy document
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking similar assignments within NGOs/civil society organizations and the governance sector within the last 10 years
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Business, IT or a related field
- Strong research and analytical skills, communication (oral and written), interpersonal and facilitation skills
Submission of Proposal
The proposal should demonstrate sound knowledge, technical skills and capacity as required by the nature of work of the assignment and understanding of the requisite tasks set forth in the scope of work.
The consultant should submit the following.
- Technical and financial Proposals
- Date and activity Schedule
- CV of designated Personnel
- Minimum of 2 recommendations from Previous Assignments
