Following a call for memoranda on the Climate Change (Amendment)Bill 2023, to the Environment, Forestry and Mining Committee, KWCA submitted a collective memoranda on behalf of its 184 conservancies following feedback ad comments from the members.

 

The Climate Change (Amendment) Bill 2023 sponsored by Hon. Kimani Ichung’wa seeks to amend the Climate Change Act, 2016 to provide regulation of the carbon markets. KWCA held a consultative meeting with representative of its member conservancies in May and collectively developed and submitted its first KWCA Memorandum_The Climate Change (Amendment) Bill 2023

 

KWCA submitted its second memorandum to National Assembly_The Climate Change (Amendment) Bill 2023_21st Aug 2023 

 

The Carbon Credit Trading Bill – Eighth draft sponsored by Hon. John Lekuton, MP, focuses on carbon trade and benefit sharing but has not been introduced in Parliament yet.  The Bill also gives insights into the memorandum for the Climate Change (Amendment)Bill 2023.
